Ever since I can remember I have been a starry-eyed dreamer. Sometimes my sister teases me about this because she is much more practical—and she has been very successful being that way. It just shows that we all have to be who we are. We all have to listen to that voice inside and do what feels right for us. I believe that when we follow our hearts, we will be showered with dreams beyond what we have dreamed.    

Years ago I asked God to let me get one book published. Everything I read and heard claimed that getting a novel published was extremely difficult. So I knew that I had asked him for a lot. To my delight, he has given me beyond what I asked for. Not only did he bless me with many published novels, but he let me feel a new joy that I hadn’t experienced. 
  
It’s that happiness that surges through me when I know that one of my novels has entertained someone, uplifted them, made them feel the magic of falling passionately in love, or gave them hope that anything, no matter how mind-blowing, is possible. To the people who have given me a chance to entertain them over the years, I thank you so much for taking this journey with me. I hope that my stories will continue to touch your hearts. You have certainly touched mine. To those who have never read my novels, I hope I have the chance to entertain you and sweep you in a world that totally absorbs you in its excitement and leaves you thoroughly satisfied.

This year I received a Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award. It was a beautiful gift that was beyond my dreams. I read Zora Neale Hurston's books in college and wished that I could move people with my words the way she moved me with hers. To honor her and my readers, I’m working hard to do my best writing ever. I am so thrilled and grateful for the characters and storylines that have come to me. I hope they bring you extreme pleasure. Some of them are being adapted into film projects.     

This year I also wanted to share my love affair with music. “Dreams Do Come True,” my debut CD will be released during the summer. Along with it, I’m launching a clothing line, and a site about love and romance called KissesandCandlelight.com.
